what's the deal with the emu/euro elections anyway? both sides have called in the heavy guard; the celebrities. the reason? none of the sides can present one single reasonable argument in favour of it's cause. it's all about hopes and beliefs, not about facts. so, to be able to attract votes, the campaign leaders have decided to enroll well-known faces that the man on the street know. it certainly works for me, i've almost decided on casting a blank vote. i cannot see myself taking either parts side when there are so many morons among their celebrity voters. f*kk it.
there have been six referendums (including the coming one due on september 14) in the history of sweden. how many of them have really influenced the decisions then taken by the politicians?
so what's the story behind this picture, you ask. i spent a late winter night (february or march 2002) on medborgarplatsen waiting for a friend. suddenly, someone poked me in the back with something, and i heard a small voice saying "do you feel threatened?". when i turned around, i saw two girls, mid-twenties, holding a large gun. apparently a fake one (although i looked pretty real). turned out they had been at a party, and now they were on their way home. when they saw that i had a camera, they started posing with the gun. i took a couple of shots (with the camera, mind you:), and this is one of them.
