it took me a good day and a half, but i've finally backed up the photo folder on my external hard drive to dvds. two times forty gigabytes on verified copies. since i don't have access to a dvd burner at home, i have to bring my hd to work for backup which means i put my precious photos at stake; the risk is probably higher that i fall over on my way to the subway and crash the hard drive by landing on it, than it is for the drive to crash by mere use back home.
