i spent a couple of hours out under the full moon the past weekend, trying to get me some night shots from the small village where i grew up. the village as such isn't really interesting, but the possibility to get out in the woods and the dark without using a car is what made me drag my reasonably sized behind from the couch. once back home again, i realised my camera suffers from some pretty severe purple fringing or color casts at one partiular area of the image. from what i've understood, the problem can be fixed if the in-camera noise reduction is used... is there any other way to get rid of the purple cast?

the above image is a combination of three exposures, using a trick i picked up from john. the trick consists of using the layer blending mode called "light" in ps when adding an image to another. the total exposure time of the above scene was somewhere between ten and twelve minutes.

oh, and sorry about the poor quality of the image file; using a lower jpg compression would've resulted in a too large a file. i've replaced the original image with a less compressed one; quality 75 instead of 50.
