F*CK! i broke my camera! i thought i had closed my bag after feeding the kids a banana, but obviously i hadn't. imagine the sound of a d200 with a tamron 17-35 hitting the street. i can still hear that dry crackle of plastic and metal against the pebbles and asphalt. shit. my bad. the lens is torn open; the parts seem to be ok, as do the optic elements. but something's rattling around in there, and i can see the inside from the outside. that's a bad thing. the camera works, but the viewfinder is far from ok. i wonder if the sensor is ok? i've talked to the insurance company; my insurance might not cover the repairs. i'll leave the camera, lens and battery grip to a certified nikon shop tomorrow for an estimate on how much it'll be before the camera is ok.
so what did i learn today? a) leave the camera at home? not an option. b) leave the kids at home? not an option either. c) don't mix camera gear with foods and diapers? yeah, that must be it. option c.
no new digital images on smudo.org for a while. heck, if the camera is too expensive to repair, i might fry this sh*t. in a couple of weeks, i'll know.
fruit cake.
stay safe. close your bags.
