i've just waded through thousands of comment spam messages posted to this blog in the past few months, and i now realize that i've missed out on answering to more than a couple of dozen real comments that somehow got caught by the spam filter. for this i am sorry.

note to self: start a new blog this year, and keep proper spam protection at the top of the requirements list.
